Get to Know YOU : 5 Easy-Access Online Tests to Get to Know Yourself Better

Have you ever felt lost when thinking about who you really are? What do you really like? Who do you want to be authentically?

Sometimes it could be hard for us humans to really know who we are, since the way we think, the way we behave, and everything related to our identity are shaped by various things such as biological factors and even our surroundings. However, this doesn’t mean that we do not have any sort of control over ourselves! At the end of the day, we can always decide and choose who we want to become authentically.

You might wonder though, how do I even start? How can I learn more about myself? Worry no more! Here are five fun tests to take when you’re in the mood of exploring more about yourself or when you simply have a lot of free time to yourself ;)

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The otherwise known as the MBTI, is a personality test that has gained popularity in the last few years not only amongst the younger generations, but also amongst organisations such as schools and companies all over the world. According to this Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, there are 16 unique and diverse personality types for us humans.

Not that you might care, but I’m an ISFJ (Defender)! What about you #KURVIES? What’s your personality type? I can really relate to the result of this test since I really like taking care of other people and I like to be kind to others. After taking the test, not only did I learn about my strong points, but I was also able to reflect upon my weaknesses and come up with strategies to overcome them.

The test might take you quite a while to take but I personally think it’s worth it! And it’s always fun to read this information about yourself that you might not have been aware of before. Not only that, if you’re applying for jobs nowadays, a lot of companies would also ask you about your personality type! So taking the test beforehand, reflecting, and relating to the result of the test might also help you later in your job interview.

There are a lot of MBTI tests available online for free! I am not a psychologist nor an expert in this field, but for me personally, the 16 Personalities Test is fun to take due to its cute animations and comprehensible language! Other MBTI test sources that I found include: Truity and the official MBTI test from the Myers-Briggs Company for $49.95 USD.

Enneagram Test

This is another personality test that I discovered after the MBTI. For those of you who are interested in taking the test, you might do it through this website

I found out about this test from one of my lecturers back in uni, in 2018 or 2019. She told me that this test was more comprehensive than MBTI, so my curiosity led me to taking this test and I got the Type 6 personality. The Enneagram test offers you information about your fears, core motivation, your healthy and unhealthy traits, even various, unique, and personalised tips for growth!

So overall, I wouldn’t say that this test is better than other personality tests that exist. I believe that they just offer different types of information about yourself. It’s never wrong to learn about yourself as much as you can from different sources anyway!

The Love Language Quiz

This test also goes waayyy back! I first took this test when I was still in high school (I think it was in 2015 when my friend introduced it to me). So if you take the test, the test will show you what your Love Language is! They will be sorted by your main/primary Love Language to the type of Love Language that is the least important to you.

They are comprised of: Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, and Quality Time.

I have taken this test since 2015 and recently took the test again. My main/primary Love Language stays the same, which is Physical Touch! After reflecting on this result, I believe that the result is based on what we would like to receive from others. Because the way I express my love actually differs from what I want to receive from other people! So, although I prioritise Physical Touch before Receiving Gifts from others, I really like giving gifts to people and do a lot of Acts of Service!

This experience has been really amazing to discover and I also believe that this knowledge of how I want to receive and express love could also be useful in my relationships with the people I love and care about. Take the test now #KURVIES.

Apology Language and Anger Assessment Quiz

Developed from the same individual who developed the 5 Love Language Test, are the Apology Language and Anger Assessment Quizzes.

The Apology Language Quiz will give you information around apologies. These include: Request Forgiveness, Make Restitution, Accept Responsibility, Expressing Regret, Genuinely Repent. This could be useful in the way you handle conflicts with people and in your ways of communication to resolve them.

On the other hand, the Anger Assessment isn’t categorised into different types like the previous two tests. It will give you a diagram which shows how well you handle your anger. Mine says “You are doing well, but you can improve” 🤪. The result will also include a number of reflective questions for us to think about regarding our anger. This might be beneficial when you’re in the mood of reflecting🧘🏻‍♀️.

Overall, I would like to say that these tests can give you a number of benefits for yourself and your relationships with others. However, we all still need to remember that humans are unique beings and although we might have the same personality types or test results, the way we navigate around each of our unique worlds can differ greatly from one another.

Always be kind to yourself and others. Allow mistakes to happen and learn from them! Thank you for reading up to this point #KURVIES. Hope this post was somewhat useful for you. Stay safe and healthy always, we love you!
